My love of Impressionistic art is a deep one, I see the history of art up to that point as concentrating so much on realism, then suddently, like the flowers and trees blooming in spring; these beautiful explosions of color appear on the scene. The movement began in France towards the end of the 19th Century and spread to America into the early 20th Century. Impressionism is such a contrast to the dark clouds of smoke belching forth from the factories of the Industrial Age at its height, this art acts as a testimonial to the beauty around us that the industrialists could not rob from the earth. I especially like the use of bright colors, the fun of squinting my eyes at various distances from the works and seeing how the colors blend. I believe that this period of art produced some of the most beautiful works the world has ever seen. Below you will find in no particular order, many Impressionist links.
