Before we begin with the early history of the Ephrata Cloister, we’d like to introduce an important source on the early American Rosicrucians and Ephrata Cloister:  Dr. Julius Sachse, who was regarded as the historian of the Rosicrucian movement for the early American period of activity.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

We wonder how many people have read Dr. H. Spencer Lewis’ dedication to Julius Sachse in the front of his book, Rosicrucian Questions and Answers with Complete History of the Rosicrucian Order.  Sachse is known as the last descendent of the Kelpius group.
