There are a number of unique solutions to the problem of fitting eight Queens
on an 8x8 chess board, but all require the Queens to occupy opposite corners
of a 2x3 rectangle--a Knight's move apart from each other. One solution is
provided below:
A pattern becomes quite clear after seeing a few boards of increasing size.
One thing to be noticed in all the solutions provided--the 2x2 square
at the center of the board is always vacant.
