This web page was listed previously and I have now separated it to make things easier for everyone. Several of the villages below the links do not connect which I have marked until I find out if the company has gone out of business.

DEVON, ENGLAND

The following links I found on the internet, after getting permission to be able to link them to my page. Any genealogist researching these towns from where their ancestors came will be delighted to see the sights and more.

Ashburton (link does not work)
One page about this moorland town with a link to another page on The Chapel of St. Lawrence and one page about The Parish Church of St. Andrews

Bovey Tracey (link does not work)
Follow the stroll route thru 8 pages. The parish church is on the 8 page which I have made a link to for people that don't have the resources to view all the pages. Click hereParish Church
My brother years ago worked in the Old Mill before it became a home for the Devon Guild of Craftsmen.

Brixham Heritage Museum
This is a great web page for family researchers and I commend the museum for devotion to putting heritage information online. This site allows you to view Brixham history and several records including boats A-Z, monumental inscriptions, surnames of Brixhams, fishermans documents etc.

Buckfastleigh (link does not work)
Two pages about the village of Buckfastleigh and Buckfast Abbey. However, very little is mentioned that the railway station is the northern terminus of the preserved Dart Valley Steam Railway running to Totnes and back.

Dartmoor National Park
Go to the Fact File page there are some interesting files listed e.g. Dartmoor Commons. Some of the files tell you who owns the land and the changes made to the commoner regulations etc. This gives you an idea on how ones ancestors lived around the moors before the changes made for todays lifestyle.

Moretonhampstead (link does not work)
One page which has three town trails for your guide into the history of this town.

Newton Abbot (link does not work)
Two pages about this lively market town. The last time I was in Newton Abbot they still had the sheep coming to market but the town was also going thru a lot of growing changes. All the tourists seem to go via this town to go to the coast.

Okehampton (link does not work)
One page about this busy market town on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park.

Petrockstowe
Several pages about this village and pictures including their parish church.

Plymouth Naval Base Museum
If you have maritime heritage this site is a good place to look and I found Michael Phillips very knowledgeable and helpful.

Stone & Quarrymen of the SW Country
If your Devon or Cornish ancestor was either a mason, builder, bricklayer, stone carver etc. you might find them listed at this web page.
