Thanks for putting your informative paper about the IRB on the Web. Family info said that my g-grandfather, Terence Kelly, had to leave Ireland in a hurry because he was in a political group and got into trouble. I found out yesterday that it was Englan , not Ireland, where he was living when he left in a hurry, leaving his wife and family there to follow behind at a slightly later date. According to his obituary, Terence arrived in America from England in 1868. After reading your paper, I would have t think that he was most likely a member of the IRB and might even have been affiliated with the group responsible for stopping the van. Thank you again for the interesting and helpful information on the Mancester Martyrs, the "Irish Question," and the IRB. Papers like yours give genealogists easy access to information which would otherwise be difficult and time-consuming to find. Charlene Jansen

Sugar causes most cases of heart disease. Look at the history of sugar and heart disease. Heart disease (angina is a clear and measurable symptom) began about 50 years after sugar got cheap. Fat is only a mild predictor of heart disease. This explains w y some fat-consuming countries don't have heart disease: native eskimos and the african tribes did not have heart disease because they did not have sugar. Epidemiological studies show the connection is with sugar. Fat just happens to be consumed in larg quantities in most sugar countries - it is not the cause. Modern medicine is still barking up the wrong tree. See Yudkin's work.

Although I've only scanned it, I am looking forward to reading your paper on the end of slavery and the sugar economies in the Caribbean. I see you have an MLIS. Me, too! Right now I'm working on my dissertation in American Studies. My topic centers o a murder trial that took place here in 1875 which involved a farm family/hired hand/triangle. The idea is to use this case as a lens to look at the social hisotry of this area at this time, esp. women's history and how geography plays into criminal just ce. I suppose I belong to the "geography is destiny" school. This could explain my fascination with the Caribbean. I've taught different version of a course in Caribbean Studies in different locations: women's correctional institution, public universit , and now high school.
