nose peg

ulbmul owarenhal in Uw Olkola

Nose peg, Kowanyama Land and Natural Resources Management Office, March 16 1997 [PH]. The Australian 50 cent coin, roughly 32 mm in diameter, allows for an estimation of size.

Nose pegs, also called nose bones (although they are not made from bone) traditionally were worn in the nose by Uw Oykangand and Uw Olkola people. They are made from bailer shell.
