Precursor to the Lord's Birth
_____________________________

When the worshipful cries of the offended Gods
About the loathsome and offensive power of Ravana below
Were heard by the Ever Happy Lord Padmanabha
Bells heralding Birth of Sri Rama chimed in Heavens above.

In his dark mind did he feel this pang of guilt
Maybe he did, but that is merely the Ravana quilt.
Dasaratha's soul probably rejoiced for the Lord
Who was to be his own Son, what a Glory, O Lord!

Praying all the while with ascetic splendour though he did
Getting the boon from Brahma, the Father though he did
Which mortal will kill me, though Ravana thought
Did he know, Sri Rama's battles were won before He even fought!

Thus were sown the seeds of the Birth
Which the Lord was to take on earth
To put all the wicked ones to flight
And to thrill the good ones in delight!
