Midsummer

Lithia, or as it is more commonly known, Midsummer. This is the Summer Solstice on June 21. This is a time when nature is at it's fullest, and the Earth is extremely fertile. This is the Sabbat where Pagans celebrate the love the Goddess and God have for each other. This Sabbat also represents the God at the height of his glory, successful and compassionate.

This is a classic time for magick of all kinds, and the veil between the worlds is said to be thin. Pagans take this night to celebrate nature, commune with faeries, and work magick. Re-dedication rituals are also popular at this time. Protection sachets and amulets are often made at this time, as well as solar wheels. Because this is the time when the Oak King reigns triumphant, many traditions burn the Yule log in the Midsummer bonfire.

Popular altar decorations are fresh flowers and fruit; herbs are also appropriate. Colors for this Sabbat traditionally are blue, red, or gold. Incenses are often musk (synthetic, please), lavender, rue, or st. johnS wort. Foods appropriate at Midsummer are red wine, sweet breads, herb breads, and pastries.
