CROCS KILL TWO IN SAVAGE ATTACKS
by Tink Nathan sourced at http://www.Bowhunting.Net/Tink/Croc.jpg

On Jan 16, 1999 Eleven year old Kruger van Rensburg was swimming in the river mouth of the Umfoluzi River in the Mapelane game reserve with his father Peet. Shortly after entering the water, a 13-foot croc swam directly under them and attacked the child, biting him around the waist. Peet attacked the croc with his fists but the huge beast disappeared under the surface, taking the helpless child away.

The Game Rangers and fisherman fishing the area mounted a search party. They soon found the croc, the child still in it's powerful toothed jaws. The croc tried to swim away but fishing boats blocked its escape. One boat rammed the huge croc and they were able to retrieve the body.

Sad to say it was too late. The small boy was dead.

There were warning notices and signs that greet visitor's when they enter the reserve, all of which were disregarded by the father.

In Southern Africa, it's often death that lies waiting in the shallow water.
