The Las Vegas Nevada Temple

of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

The Las Vegas Temple's six spires are on the sides of the building rather than the ends as in previous temples. The roof is copper, which not only gleams in the desert sun but also represents the desert itself. The temple is located on the extreme eastern edge of the city, far from the gambling casinos but on the side of a hill making it visible from nearly anywhere in the city.

The temple was announced in April 1984.
Ground was broken and construction begun on 30 November 1985.
The cornerstone was laid and the temple dedicated on 16-19 December 1989.
There are 6 Sealing rooms and 4 Ordinance rooms in the 80,900 square foot temple.
The tallest (east center) spire is 119 feet tall.
The Las Vegas Temple serves stakes in southern Nevada, and parts of Arizona and California.
