The Orlando Florida Temple

of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints


The second largest temple in the eastern United States (after Washington), the Orlando Temple is also the first of only two temples dedicated by President Howard W. Hunter, the other being the Bountiful Temple.

The temple was announced on 17 February 1990.
Ground was broken and construction begun on 20 June 1992.
The cornerstone was laid and the temple dedicated on 9-11 October 1994.
There are 5 Sealing rooms and 4 Ordinance rooms in the 70,000 square foot temple.
The spire is 165 feet tall.
The Orlando Temple serves stakes in Florida and part of southern Georgia.
