The Battle of Cynthiana Reenactment Committee is planning for the 2009 Battle of Cynthiana Reenactment to take place at the Cynthiana Elks Lodge #438 [one mile northeast of Cynthiana, on US 62] on the weekend of June 19-21, 2009.

This event has consistently drawn many Civil War enthusiasts and tourists to our county and has brought statewide attention to the many Civil War sites in the Cynthiana area connected to the First Battle of Cynthiana, July 17, 1862, and the Second Battle of Cynthiana, June 11-12, 1864.

The purpose of the Battle of Cynthiana Reenactment is to honor the Civil War soldiers, educate the public about the Civil War in Harrison County, and to promote the preservation and interpretation of the Civil War sites in Harrison County.

Registration, parking and admission to the 2009 event are free of charge. Firewood and hay for the reenactment horses will be provided.

Saturday evening and Sunday morning will feature, for a nominal fee, a dinner and breakfast prepared and served by the Cynthiana Elks.
