Tony Buzzella was elected to the Columbia County School Board in 1994 while on staff at Lake City Community College. He served on the board from 1994-2002. While serving on the school board, Tony earned state certified school board member status. He also served as state chairman for the Florida School Labor Relations Service, Collective Barganing, and several other education related committees. The Florida Virtual "on-line" High School was created during his tenure on the state technology committee. Under his leadership as school board chairman, the new Fort White High and Westside Elementary schools were built in Columbia County, Florida. Prior to leaving the board, he was successful in promoting the establishment of a stand alone alternative school for disruptive students. Tony Buzzella continues to serve the educational needs of students and remains active in local political activities and events.
Community Involvement
Tony Buzzella serves as entertainment chairman for the OLUSTEE FESTIVAL which is always held the week before President's Day. Tony is also an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Lake City and several other local, state and national organizations.
Educational Background
Tony Buzzella graduated from Hialeah Senior High School (Florida) in 1972. He holds several honorary titles in addition to his earned degrees of Bachelor of Music Education, and Master of Educational Leadership. He is a state-certified School Board Member, K-12 Music Teacher and Public School Principal (all levels).
Professional Experience
Tony Buzzella has an extensive background in teaching, educational administration, program development, marketing, business management, music and the entertainment industry. Tony is also active as a musician, entertainer and motivational speaker in the area of educational reform. He is currently employed as a public school music teacher and private music instructor. On week ends he can be found playing music and entertaining at Tucker's Fine Dining Restaurant inside the historic "Hotel Blanche" which is located in downtown Lake City, Florida on Marion Street, one block north of Olustee Park.
