In the fall of l981 Audrey and Janet decided to buy in an outcross male to combine with the bloodlines of their English pekes. They purchased, at eight weeks old, the puppy who was to grow up to be Best in Show and Specialty Best in Show winning Champion Charmin Jason of Toimanor. Entered for his first show at seven months and due to the pregnancy of Janet and the illness of Audrey, a handler was selected for the new young star, the late Max Kerfoot. It was love at first sight between Max and Jason, the two forming a team who accounted for 16 Bests in Show and over 200 group ones and group placings.
Jason was America's number one Pekingese in l983 and l984 and number two
toy dog for l984 as well. A show dog every inch of the way, in the hands of
a most knowledgable handler, they made a memorable combination. Sadly, Max
died suddenly in l984 at the age of 34 years, and Jason was retired
immediately upon Max's death. Jason was three years old. He returned home
to Toimanor where he was loved and spoiled beyond belief until his death at
the age of thirteen years. He was a great show dog and a great Champion and
a great companion and he will always be missed.
