Sam Birtday Tribute Sets Record!
Since 2000, many of Sam's fans have donated to Refugees International in honor of his birthday, November 15. This year, a record-breaking $5000 was raised! Sam has said he is humbled and honored by this yearly tribute honoring a cause he has held dear for 18 years. Sam and Elisabeth Star in Much Ado About Nothing
(New York City, Summer 2004) Sam and Elisabeth spent the summer together playing Leonato and Hero in the Shakespeare in the Park production of this famous comedy. It was a nostaligic trip for Sam, who won awards for his portrayal of Benedick in 1972. Our own Feste saw the play, and wrote a wonderful review. Click here to read the review.
Sam Portrays Lincoln At Cooper Union
(New York City, May 5, 2004) Sam was magnificent portraying the sixteenth President as he recreated one of Lincoln's most famous speeches at the Great Hall of Cooper Union at 6:30 pm May 5, and was broadcast over C-Span later in the month. The combination of Lincoln's words and Sam's intrepretation made this an event worth watching. It celebrated the publication of "Lincoln at Cooper Union: The Speech That Made Abraham Lincoln President" (Simon & Schuster) by Harold Holzer, a Lincoln authority. (New York City, February 26, 2004) Sam did some readings at a concert at Carnegie Hall which features the St. Luke's Orchestra. The rest of the program included works by Kernis, Hartman, Strauss, and Shostakovich. The New York Times review raved over Sam's readings! Click here to find out more about the orchestra.
Sam Bowls For Charity
(New York City, Mar 8, 2004) Sam was one of the team captains at a charity bowling tournament held at the Leisure Time Lanes at the NY Port Authority on Monday, March 8. Procedes from the tournament go to the Second Stage Theater and its educational programs. The Second Stage Theater is celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary. Sam To Do Readings At JTS
(New York City, April 19, 2004) Sam read passages from original Americana documents from the Jewish Theological Seminary's library at a gala at the Neue Galerie in New York City at 7 pm, April 19th. Proceeds from the event benefitted the JTS Library Acquisition Fund. The evening included private tours of the renowned collections of the Neue Galerie, a cocktail reception at the Galerie's elegant Café Sabarsky, plus a spectacular private auction featuring celebrity meetings, beautiful art and fabulous cuisine packages. This event was one of the many highlights of a nationwide initiative, , honoring the 350th anniversary of the arrival of Jews on American shores.

Sam Stars in The Commission
(Los Angeles CA)Sam stars as Mr. Rankin, counsel, in The Commission, a play based on the previously secret transcripts of the Warren Commission. James Waterston Stars in Film and TV Series
(Los Angeles, September 2004)James Waterston guest starred in some episodes of the award-winning HBO series Six Feet Under as Kyle. Let's hope Kyle is back next season!
James also starred in the Hallmark Channel's movie Wedding Daze. As usual, he did a marvelous job as an inventor and love interest of one of three daughters who decide to get married on the same day.
Katherine Waterston In Her First television series!
(New York City, 2004)Katherine Waterston was cast in a new comedy being developed by NBC. It is called Home and Hardware, and will star Alyson Hannigan and Colin Ferguson. Unfortunately, this program was not picked up by the network. But it did give Katherine experience. Best of luck to her on her next endeavor!
