Death of a Hookerby Ayesha Haqqiqa
A prostitute is murdered, and only one man seems to be interested in finding out who her killer was. He is aided by his daughter and a photographer, who might have taken a photo showing the killer as he worked on a photo essay about prostitutes. |

Sam’s performance: Sam was the ONLY actor in this film who didn't appear to be out of his depth. He was believable as an eccentric photographer, interested only in his art. Red Buttons and Conrad Bain, the leads, were terribly miscast, and didn't seem to really be able to give their characters any depth. They appeared to be uncomfortable doing something that wasn't comedic. At the time of this writing, the beginning of the movie is available for viewing on Youtube. Click here to view it. Must-see scene: At one point, Sam and the daughter are out looking around for clues, Sam drives a motorcycle—and wears the worst looking helmet imaginable! Rating: 1 Sam means you won’t be able to sit through the entire movie; 5 Sams means you’ll want to buy the film and watch it over and over again!

This is one of the worst films Sam has ever been in, in my opinion. Maybe it was because the leads were miscast(come on, Red Buttons as a hard-boiled detective?) and the writing was so poor. Frankly, about a third of the way through I simply fast forwarded until Sam appeared on the screen. But check out the Youtube clip and make up your own mind. |
