Interiors (1978):

By Liz

Three sisters try to come to terms with the divorce of their parents and the subsequent unhinging of their mother because of it.  Sam plays the husband (boyfriend?) of one of the sisters, Joey.

Sam's Performance:  Even though he's not in the movie much, it is a typical solid performance by Sam.  He portrays the frustration of his character well, who has to deal with both his wife and her overbearing, mentally unstable mother.  He shows Mike's desire to help his wife with her identity crisis, and his inability to do so, very acutely.

Must-see scene:  Sam dances!  He gets down at the father's second wedding.  When Mike (Sam) and Joey are talking about her pregnancy and her desire to terminate it, you can see all of the conflicting emotions at once in his character as he struggles to understand his wife.

2 Sams.

The movie is depressing, and I could never understand why Joey wouldn't want Mike's (Sam) baby!  Inconceivable!  He's not in it much, but he still brings a lot to the movie, as usual.
