Much Ado About Nothing (1972)
Synopsis: The classic
Shakespeare comedy of lovers, intrigue, and surprise, all set in turn-of-the
last century America.
Sam's performance: Sam says
this is one of his all-time favorite roles, and it is easy to see why. He thoroughly enjoys the transformation of
Capt. Benedict from independent bachelor to a man head over heels in love. He is able to use physical comedy in this
film version of the stage play, and hes quite good at it. Be
sure not to miss his bathtub scene, especially as he steps into skivvies that
leave little to the imagination!
Must-see scene: Capt. Benedict
is in a rowboat under a bridge, fishing, and winds up eavesdropping on his
friends. Sam at his most agile with
physical comedy.
Rating:
1 Sam means you wont be able to sit through the movie
once; 5 Sams means youll want to buy the film and watch it over and over!
5 Sams
This is a keeper. The combination of
Shakespeares words and Sams acting is hard to beat!
