Katherine Waterston--Watch This Space

She came seemingly out of nowhere in 2007, starring in a movie and winning critcal acclaim as the lead in an innovative and very intense drama. We're talking about Katherine Waterston, and she's making her mark in the theater world and on the big screen.

She's done things before-her first job was in commercials and small parts on television. And then came the opportunity to star in a short film with Alfred Molina--"Orchids" It is the story of woman finding love she did not expect after answering a personal ad. Written and directed by Bryce Dallas Howard, and was briefly shown on the internet. It was obvious that Katherine could hold her own with Molina, and show vulnerability, fear, and then kindness at the end of the film.

Next came a starring role in "The Babysitters", a film about a babysitter who finds it is more profitable to become a sex worker than to babysit children. The movie itself has gotten mixed reviews; Katherine's work has not. She's been given plaudits for taking on a difficult leading role. The film has just been purchased by an independent distributor, and, hopefully, will soon be on the screen at your local theater.

After the filming of "The Babysitters", Katherine starred in "Los Angeles", a play at the small Flea Theater in New York. It is the story of a damaged young woman trying to make her way in the big city after being ditched by her boyfriend. The theater seats only 40, and there were times that Katherine was literally almost in the playgoers laps.
