| 1) At the beginning… … there was an evil power called Hakumen no Mono (The White-Faced One), created by the world’s darkness. He adored the world with all its light, life and good things. But because he couldn’t be a part of all this, he soon began to feel hatred and only wanted to destroy the world at last. And he wanted to get a body… When Hakumen came to India, he found a newborn baby – a boy. He went into the baby’s body (by doing this, Hakumen killed the baby’s parents instantly) and lived inside it. Many people in India were killed by Hakumen’s power and destructive mania, except for this baby. When this boy grew up, people started to hate him more and more. They said, he would be from hell and would take everyone’s live. The boy’s name was Shagakusha. His heart was full of hatred, for there was no one who loved or even liked him. He always had been alone. Hit hatred was Hakumen’s life force; Hakumen ate the hatred and became stronger and stronger. Shagakusha became a cold-hearted man and a merciless soldier of his country. He vented his hatred at the battlefield and he became quickly a warlord. He won people’s consider and for the first time in his life, he didn’t feel unloved anymore. And yet, he was still unsatisfied and full of hatred, until he met a little boy called Rama and his older sister. They gave Shagakusha friendship and love and taught him, that hatred makes nothing ripen. They moved into his heart very quickly and his hatred began to fade away. He wasn’t the cold and angry man anymore, he used to be. But a war should destroy his happiness soon… Another arm potent country was about to aggress the country. The defeat was foreseeable. So Shagakusha took the girl to run out of the country. But the enemy already had been there and attacked them. The girl was killed by them. Shagakusha went crazy, because he lost his love. The pain and the hatred came back, made him demented and he killed all the aggressors. At this moment, Hakumen became ample power. His body form was complete now. He was born from Shagakushas body by breaking out of his right shoulder. Hakumen told Shagakusha, that his hatred made him grow and give him this body. Then Hakumen went and destroyed the country. Rama also got killed by him. Shagakusha lost everything. Because he created Hakumen, he decided to destroy him and was looking for a way, to do it all his life. During this time, Hakumen destroyed many countries. Most people knew and feared him. Kings of the country appointed people to make glaives or lanced, which can kill Hakumen. One Chinese family made many lances, but none of them really worked. The parents got killed by Hakumen. The son – Giryou - and daughter – Jiemei - of this family wanted avenge and made a new lance, which was quite different from the other ones; Jiemei sacrificed her body, soul and blood for the creation of the lance. Giryou was full of pain and hatree, when he made the lance. His body and the lance became one, while he was creating it; his soul was trapped in the lance with all the pain and hatred. Because of that, this lance was very powerful and able to destroy all kind of monster of the world. The lance was called Kemono no Yari (The Spear of Beasts). When Shagakusha hears about the lance, he went to China and found it. He started to kill evil monsters with it and wanted to destroy Hakumen with it as well. But the lance took a part of the bearer’s human soul away, whenever the bearer uses its power. When Shagakusha’s human soul had been completely taken by the lance, he lost his memory and mind and became a monster; an AzaFuse. He also couldn’t use the lance now anymore, because it only allows human beings to touch and use it. Many other people used the lance and they all became AzaFuse in the end. And all of them only know one thing; destroy Hakumen. Shagakusha became a very powerful and terrifying monster. Other monsters gave him the name “NagaTobiMaru” (Flying-Long-Distance) (he had many, many names. He was also once called "Azafuse", "Raijû" (The Beast of Lightning) and "Waira" by humans, but these name are only mentioned once in a Manga...). He ate people (children preferably) and other monsters. Humans were afraid of him. After 1991 years of his monster life, he finally met man, who was able to stop him; a user of the Kemono no Yari. Shagakusha (or NagaTobiMaru) was pinned by the right shoulder and embedded on a rock with the lance. People bound him and built a joss house over him. He stayed under the house for 500 years… 2) The main story Ushio Aotsuki – a 13 years old boy – lives with his father Shigure – a priest and exorcist – is sick of his father’s lecture about the hideous monster, which had been trapped 500 years ago by their ancestor, Sôtaro Aotsuki, on the site where their house and temple is. Ushio doesn’t care about that at all. In fact he thinks it’s all nonsense! One day, while Ushio has to clean the old warehouse, he discovers a trapdoor on the floor by chance. He breaks up the trapdoor, falls down and comes face-to-face with the monster his ancestor pinned by the shoulder to the rock with a sacred spear called the Spear of Beasts all those centuries ago. The monster tries to concern Ushio into releasing him (the Spear of Beasts can only be used and pulled out by humans). Actually Ushio doesn’t really want to give the monster his freedom, because the monster’s favourite dinner are humans and he makes no secret of that. But because of his evil aura, he gives off, the monster attracts many little nasty monsters, which attack two friends of Ushio – Asako Nakamura and Mayuko Inoue -, when both of them come for a visit. In order to fight them, Ushio is forced to set the monster free. While Ushio is using the Spear of Beasts, he transforms into a powerful beastlike fighter with wild eyes, long hair and enormous hate against monsters. With the help of the monster, Ushio can defeat all the little monsters. After that, Ushio forces his new “friend” to stay with him, so he can control him and make him fight along against other evil monsters, which also could be attracted by the evil aura. Ushio decides to call the monster “Tora” (Tiger). The two set out on an uneasy partnership. Tora constantly swears that he is going to eat Ushio, while he is off guard… and Tora tried that many, many times. But as long as Ushio has the Spear of Beasts at his hand, Tora really hasn’t got a chance… Nobody except for Ushio can see Tora (that is because Ushio is the Spear bearer), unless Tora wants to be seen. ) One little background story Ushio’s mother – Sumako – had died when Ushio was 2 years old; his father told him so (even a grave of her exists). But one day Ushio finds out, his mother is still alive. Ushio takes his father to task, yet he really doesn’t get any answer, why his mother had to leave. So Ushio sets out, along with Tora, to find her. Sumako is a master, just like Ushio’s father. She is the chosen one, who has to keep imprison Hakumen no Mono under the sea (Hakumen went and hide under Japan. If he ever comes out again, Japan would sink). So she went to do what she has been chosen for. Sumako is also the chosen one, who has to give birth to the spear bearer, who will destroy Hakumen for good. She had 2 years time to go back to Japan and find a man, who will marry her. And she met Shigure… Sumako has to stay under the sea, until the day comes, when Ushio has to fight against Hakumen. This day is coming closer and closer; Hakumen’s power grows stronger day by day and Sumako’s power even more weak. |
