| Vol. 33 Summary Hakumen no Mono is on half way from the island Okinawa to Tokyo, pursued by Ushio and the monster, who permanently fight him. At 6:14 a.m. in Okinawa Mayuko and Sumako consult each other. After a short conversation, Mayuko’s spirit leaves her body on the way to Tora… Meanwhile at 06:19 a.m. Tora’s lifeless body swims on the open sea at the island Awaji. He is unconscious and seems to be dead, but his mind is awake. He feels lonely, thinks his time ran out and sends his mind back to the basement, which had been his prison for 500 years. Suddenly Mayuko appears and cheerfully chats with him. She has the comb of Ushio’s mother and combs him with it, tells him, if it could turn Ushio into a human again, then this would work on Tora for sure as well… but of course it doesn’t work… Suddenly she starts to cry and cuddles into him. She says to him, that he always told her, he will eat her someday for sure, but never did it though. He responds to her, that he does want to eat her, but he wants to eat her, after he has eaten Ushio, because she is his dessert. There she starts to laugh a little bit and says, so this would mean, that he didn’t intend to eat her and she says: “I love you, I love you so much!”… She knows, she is the fourth O-Yakume and wenn Hakumen no Mono falls into sleep of some part, she has to live all the time, to constantly supervise him. And for100 or 200 years or if some serve him, she is sure, Tora will always protect her, she says to him. Tora thinks about it and he replies, he won’t save her. 100 or 200 years would be too much. He says, Hakumen has to be beaten now and thinks like that… Mayuko smiles, saying he finally is the Tora, he always used to be and she knows everybody is waiting for him. But Tora is still unsure, says, that he has this hole in his heart, but she laughs, saying he shall touch it; it wouldn’t be there anymore… Mayuko was able to bring Tora back into conscious and so he is ready again to fight…! Meanwhile Ushio and the others have to fight not only against Hakumen, but also against his Kokuen (Black Fires). It’s all too much for Ushio. He can’t contest this fight all by himself, but in the same moment of despair Tora returns! In the meantime Hakumen is still 400 meters away from the rock, where the Oyakume and the barrier are, which had been created by them and the Kouhamei, to keep Hakumen trapped in it. Ushio and Tora do their best, but in the meantime the Kokuen have spread out to all kind of places, to attack the allies of Ushio & Tora… Yet, finally the time has come: Hakumen is surrounded and locked up by the mighty barrier. Humans and monsters take the chance and fight Hakumen no Mono with all the weapons they’ve got, even armed forces and air force are there to fight (even the dead make a contribution to the battle, such as Hyô, Nagare, Tokuno, Satori and Jûrô…!). But as hard as they try, nothing seems to harm Hakumen no Mono. It’s a bitter fight of good against pure evil and some people have to die. So Kirio looses his friend Kuin… Hakumen seems to be invincible. He is getting even more and more wild and megalomaniac, even pulls out his own eyes, because he says it doesn’t matter to him anymore, if he destroys humans or monsters and because he can sense the Spear of the Beast directly this way, without having to see, where it is right now! Now everything seems to be lost and nobody can help the two anymore and the others have no other choice, than trust in Ushio & Tora. Yet, Ushio doesn’t know what else do, but Tora knows… He rams the Spear deep in his back, so that the top isn’t visible anymore. This way Hakumen can’t sense the Spear anymore and desperately searches for it. Ushio is horrified and wants to pull the Spear out of Tora’s back again, but Tora keeps him from doing that. He tells Ushio, 500 years ago, when he was raging around in Japan, he had been challenged by one single Samurai. He had the Spear of the Beasts. Tora couldn’t flee, but in this moment he didn’t knew why. His human memory came back and he understood, this Samurai had been to become a beast just like he. Then Tora felt a pack of serving monsters arriving behind the man, who came to destroy the Spear and he thought that this man would soon let go of the man. The man destroyed the serving monsters… Hakumen now knows, the Spear is stuck in Tora’s body. Tora belives, if the Spear had been all the 500 years in his body without destroying him, it wouldn’t destroy him know either…, but unfortunately this isn’t true… Ushio notices, the spot, where the Spear is stuck, already turns a little bit into dust (if the Spear of the Beasts wounds a monster deadly, it dies by turning into dust). Ushio desperately tries to pull the Spear out of Tora again, but Tora keeps him from doing that. He asks Ushio, if he wants Hakumen to kill everyone and Ushio begins to realize… Until now Tora never thought of all the others. The monsters had been enemies to him and humans only food. But since he lived with Ushio he changed, without wanting it. Now he can’t take it anymore, that Hakumen no Mono kills innocent people. He says, it would be all Ushio’s fault and Ushio mustn’t forget the aim just to save him…! Ushio starts to cry, because he knows, he’ll loose Tora now, but he resigned himself to Tora’s wish and together they take the offensive one last time against Hakumen, who recognized Shagakusha in Tora by now. The last attack had been successful! Ushio and Tora finally could destroy Hakumen, who really can’t accept his defeat and says, he would be invincible and could never die. Tora replies to Hakumen, he never knew, whey he hated him so much, but now he wouldn’t hate him anymore and ends with the words, the woman he loved so much once thought him: “The hatred doesn’t let anything grow”… Hakumen is dying, but before he dies for good, he says someone once called him like this, not with a scream of death, not with a crying, but with cheerful words someone spoke his name. His name isn’t Hakumen no Mono, his name is… But Hakumen couldn’t finish this sentence anymore, because he died. Then something forms out of his last tail… a baby! Meanwhile the dust phase has already started on Tora, but he says it would be ok, because now it’s time for him to go. Ushio replies, he has to become a beast now and this might be their destiny and starts to cry. He knows, Tora has to die now and says to Tora, that the moment for dying hasn’t come yet, because he hasn’t eaten him yet and he always wanted to eat him. But Tora is happy, he can die now and only replies, he already has eaten him and his stomach is full. After these words Tora turned to dust completely and the dust soars up to the sky. Ushio is full of pain and despair. He starts now to turn into a beast. Yet he really doesn’t mind, because he would be like Tora then. At this moment the Spear of the Beasts shatters into thousands of tiny little pieces, because now it isn’t needed anymore and the souls of Giryô, Jiemei and their parents are finally free again! They are so grateful to Ushio and Jiemei tells him (now she calls him “Zang Yue” again), they lived in the Spear of Beasts in the cold for so long, but now they’re allowed to rest in Ushio’s warm body. That’s why he won’t turn into a beast. This is the last thing, Jiemei can still do. Their lives are at an end, but they’ll always be able to remember him. The fight is finally over for Ushio now and he falls into a deep sleep. Japan almost sank into the ocean. Hakumen no Mono has destroyed the column, which supported the earth. That’s why the monsters of Japan have to turn into stone to support the planet. Only the ones stay, who always lived among the humans, like Izuna, Raishin and Kagari. The great battle ends on April 22. in 1991 at 06:08 pm... One year later in March you see Ushio sit at the breakfast table along with his father and his mother. When he leaves for school, he passes the old shack, were he found Tora in April 1990 and looks there. Suddenly he has to think of Tora and he almost has to cry, but then he pulls himself together though and smiles, thinking of all the fun they had together, because Asako, Mayuko and Kirio are already there to pick him up… Next |
