GENERAL RULES

 

1. All entries must have been broadcast during the 2003 calendar year.

 

2. Any staff member, full or part-time, paid or volunteer, of an AP-member commercial or educational radio or television station in Arizona is eligible to submit entries.

 

3. A maximum of five entries per person in any one category may be submitted.

 

4. Each entry must be submitted as originally broadcast. No changes in the material are permitted.

 

5. Enclose $10 for each entry submitted -- one check covering all entries is OK. Make checks payable to AAPBA. Provide 2 copies of entry form for each entry. Information required on the entry forms must be typewritten or clearly printed. ILLEGIBLE ENTRIES MAY BE VOIDED. NOTE: FOUR IS THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF INDIVIDUAL NAMES WHICH CAN BE LISTED ON AN AWARD.

 

6. Radio entries must be submitted on audiocassette tape only. More than one entry may be placed on the same cassette, but only if they are to be submitted in the same category. Do not mix entries for different categories on the same cassette.

 

7. Television entries must be submitted on VHS format. More than one entry may be placed on the same cassette, but only if they are to be submitted in the same category. Do not mix entries for different categories on the same cassette.

 

8. Each entry may be submitted in only one category, with the following exceptions: (1) An entry in any TV category may also be submitted in the Photography-Videography category; (2) an entry in any radio category may also be submitted in The Best Use of Sound category; (3) stories used for the Reporter of the Year category, for either radio or TV, may duplicate stories entered in other categories; (4) an entry in any TV category may also be submitted as part of the composite entries for News Anchor of the Year or Editing awards; and (5) TV newscasts presented for Best Producer may duplicate entries for Best Newscast.

 

9. Radio entries will be submitted in two divisions: Division One is for newsroom staffs of four or more people. Division Two is for staffs of three or fewer people.

 

10. TV entries will be submitted in three divisions: Division One is for newsroom staff sizes over 61. Division Two is for newsroom staff sizes of 21-60. Division Three is for newsroom staff sizes of 20 or less.

 

11. In both the radio and TV categories, any piece of work from a smaller staff-size division can be entered in divisions for larger staff sizes. If you wish to compete with larger staffs, please mark your entry form accordingly. AN ENTRY MAY BE SUBMITTED IN ONLY ONE DIVISION, HOWEVER.

 

12. Entries must be received (either mailed or dropped off) at the AP bureau in Phoenix by no later than Friday, Feb. 13, 2004. Mail entries to:
