Israel supports American spy
The
Israeli Prime Minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, has sent a message of support to
a convicted American spy, Jonathan Pollard, who is serving a life sentence
in a United States jail.
The Communications
Minister ,Limor Livnat, is to deliver a letter in person during a visit to
Pollard on Tuesday.
He
was quoted by Israel radio as saying this was the first direct message from
the prime minister.
The minister said the
time had come for Israel to put the issue on the agenda with the Americans.
Pollard, an American
Jew, was granted Israeli citizenship last year.
He was convicted of
passing classified information to Israel in 1986.
