Duel 40 DCNF Weber Carbs - Mallory ignition.
Transmission: 1974 Super Beetle
Tires (Size, Model, Brand): Goodyear DR70-14 "GT Radial" Tires on American Racing Hurricane mag wheels.
History:      Purchased kit from Fiberfabs Bob & Judy Pittinger of Costa Mesa, CA.
This car has been in a couple of car shows back around 1979 & 1980.  It's in great condition, always garaged. Was on the cover of the December 1979 Issue of KIT CAR MONTHLY NEWSLETTER and also a short piece appeared on page 84 of KIT CAR magazine. A rather lengthy article also was published about it in a newsletter for the company that I worked for back in 1979.  Also pictured in a 1980 Kit Car (Auto Logic) catalog.
The bad news: It's been sitting idle for more than 10 years and hasn't been driven or started in all that time & has about a half inch of dust covering it. Last time I attempted to start it up (about 7 years ago) it leaked gas from one of its duel Weber carbs. No telling what would (or wouldn't) happen if I tried to start it up now.
Extras: Heavily modified to look more like the original Carabo. It has sequential arrow-shaped rear turn signals, side air scoops and a very heavily customized rear panel/ rear quarter.
  • 110 vac 200w power inverter - outlet on dashboard.
  • Treuhaft external oil cooling system.
  • Custom made all aluminum gas tank.
  • Fully upholstered gas tank compartment.
  • Large storage box in tail section.
  • I.C.E. air conditioner.
  • Home-made cast alloy Bertone emblems.
  • Interior molded fiberglas storage compartments along side next to each seat.
  • Aircraft style ignition start button in overhead console.
  • Molded-on side-view mirrors.
Future Plans: Hopefully to someday get it cleaned up, running and back on the street again.  If not, then try to sell it.
