Originally owned by Al Makey and the it had a
turbo-diesel engine in and reportedly got 83 MPG during the SAEA high
altitude rally. It also received an award for cleanest burning car.
This engine was totaled and replaced with a standard 1600 bug
engine. The car was purchased in 1982 By Peter Guenther and was
driven some. The engine was removed with plans to rebuild it, but
this never happened. The windshield was broken about 1988 by a tree
branch. After being towed to several locations, it was sold to Mike
in 1999. |
