History: My late dad always wanted a sports car (I drove a succession of Corvettes). In 1980, he was 75 years old. I was between jobs, had some time to spend, and agreed to build him the Aztec-7 (without realizing how difficult it would be for him to get in and out of it). I was living in Metropolitan Washington, D.C., suburbs of Maryland, he in Ohio. I built the car between November 1980 and April 1981, when the car was titled. Since then, it has been driven 2,400 or 2,500 miles (forgot which, and I'm not at home where the car is stored). About 2,000 miles of that mileage was several round trips between Washington and Ohio. He and my mother only drove it a few miles locally. It's now titled in her name but, at nearly age 91, she doesn't plan to be driving it much. It is painted in DuPont red metallic Imron. Monza exhaust.

UPDATE: This car was sold at auction in June 2001 to a buyer (name forgotten) also in Wauseon, Ohio. I moved to Delaware for several years. Friends later rerported seeing the car Ohio tagged and on the road in the same town, driven by the young daughter of the buyer. I moved back to the same town in 2003, have not seen the car, but believe it is still around and could be traced through the Ohio registry...either as a VW or Aztec-7, with an owner in Wauseon.

Extras: The only modifications are a special removable tubular bracing system I designed and fabricated, to mount the rear section more soundly. And Fiberfab's motor-operated headlight system was an unreliable joke, so I designed a manual system, actuated by a modified parking brake assembly.
