The Overuse (and Abuse) of HTML

I try to make my site visually appealing. Although I don't edit any graphics myself, I do write all of the html coding myself. So I know how rewarding it is to work really hard on a layout and for it to turn out the way I wanted it. But some people, while dong so, make their sites completely unbearable or web surfers.

FRAMES- I can't stand them. Mainly because my browser can't support them, but I also don't like them when I'm using a friend's computer. Most of the time you could have the exact same result by using tables instead (if you learn how to use them, anyway.) without trapping people and masking URLs. And if you simply MUST have frames, would it be that much trouble to make a no framed version for people that do not like them? And then there are people that will use four frames (would probably use more, if they could) in a layout, and put little buttons saying "up" and "down" to move the text. Those don't work at all for me. Needless to say that when I see a site like that, I just leave.

MIDIS- A love of music is wonderful. It really is. But not everyone has the same taste in music that you do, and not everyone has speakers as quiet as you do. Being hit by a song at full blast when you enter a website, even if you like the song, is a shock and annoyance. Why do people insist on putting Midis on the background of their pages? Please, if you want a song to play, just put a link to the file that people can just click on if they want to hear it. Please.

BRIGHT TEXT AND BACKGROUNDS-Eye straining. Enough said.

sTIckY cAPS-Okay, so it in't really an HTML problem, but it is still annoying. Can anyone really read this? Yes, I know you think it looks cool (trust me. My first online name was pixYgUrL, so I wasn't born with the hate of sticky caps.), but it annoys everyone else. No one can read it!

TRAILING CURSORS AND MARQUEES-Not only are they hard to keep up with, but marquees sometimes freeze people's browsers.

That's all for now. I'm likely to think of more later. Probably right after I stumble upon a really annoying site.
