The most common vessel in the Drakh attack groups, the Raider is a powerful vessel less than half the size of a standard Whitestar but armed with a cannon similar to the one that makes the Whitestar such a deadly vessel. Because of the design of the Raider, no energy is available to power Jump Engines and therefore this attack ship does not carry them, instead relying on the larger Drakh Carriers and possibly even the Mothership to deliver them into battle. However, this weakness has been exploited several times in the past when the destruction of a Carrier has stranded Raiders in normal space where they could not escape. Faced with such a situation, the Raiders often self-destruct rather than risk capture at the hands of their enemies. This is sometimes a double-edged blade though, as Raiders have chosen to ram their opponents rather than die quietly. These vessels should be dispatched with extreme prejudice whenever encountered. |
