The mainstay of the Narn Imperial Fleet prior to the Centauri reoccupation of their homeworld, the G'Quon Heavy Cruiser carried enough firepower to lay waste to small battlegroups and enough Starfighters to insure adequite cover for any convoys it was guarding. The most common symbol of Narn power, these Heavy Cruisers were the ambition of any Narn commander.
Built with the same spartan attention as the rest of the Narn Imperial Fleet's ships, the
G'Quon is a pure combat warship that can quickly deliver firepower to a combat zone. Armed with eighteen energy weapons systems and two Energy Mine Launchers, the Heavy Cruiser was as capable at convoy guarding and blockade duty as she was at engaging enemy fleets in the field. This was proven over and over again between 2215 and 2231 during several engagements between Narn vessels and the warships of the Centauri Republic and Dilgar Empire. Post-battle analysis showed over and over again that the G'Quon was tactically equal if not superior to the Centauri Primus Heavy Cruiser in combat.
     The biggest drawback of the
G'Quon is the small size of the Heavy Cruiser. Smaller than many vessels that it faces, it can be quickly overwhelmed and outmaneuvered due to the lack of guns to cover all arcs. Also, the Starfighter payload she carries often comprises of the older Frazi type which, when compared to the Centauri's Sentri, puts her at something of a disadvantage. However, this is often overcome by the skill and daring of Narn commanders as they seek to catch their enemy unawares and strike hard and fast before dissapearing into hyperspace again.
The Narn Heavy Cruiser G'krath as it leaves hyperspace to attack a Centauri troop convoy. It was common for the Narn to use their Heavy Cruisers in such a role.
