A Note on Simming
Simming has been a hobby  of a great number of people for several years now. It is the art of taking mere words and using them to bring life a character who would otherwise just be a series of ink pixels on a page of paper or a set of images on a computer screen. Novice simmers or seasoned veterans, all of us are drawn together by a common interest to live out yet another part of the story of the story through our words and storylines. Every one of us is brought together by the success of a storyline and the urge to make the sim as fun as possible for everyone. Of course, over time a few simple guidelines have been created in order to help makeevery sim successful.

Rule #1: Be Realistic
Though it may seem grossly obvious, many simmers often feel tempted beyond reality in order to acheive what they want within the sim. Keeping the actions of your character realistic makes it more fun for everyone involved.

Rule #2: Adhear to the Rulings of the Game Master
Though everyone goes into simming with the intent of cooperating and making the entire story work, fights and arguments will inevitably break out. In this event, the sim's GM mayb be called in to settle the dispute. Even though this may mean that one player loses out while another triumphs, trusting the GM's decision is vital to the continuation of the sim.

Rule #3: Your Character is ALWAYS your Character
It must always be remembered that even though a character could realistically be killed off by a sniper's bullet or captured and shot by an angered enemy, that character can only die if the player agrees to it. This stops any other players from killing off every opponent in the sim and rampaging unchecked. The one exception to this rule occurs when the GM decides that the character must die, often in compliance with the SYOA method of simming. In this instance, the player does not need to consent.

Rule #4: Have Fun!
Beleive it or not, simming isn't all rules and drudgery. Even though your character may run into pitfalls and problems, there is always a way out if you're willing to comprimise and write the storyline out. In the end, every simmer is on the same side in that we're all here for the enjoyment of the hobby, so get out there and start writing!
A Note on Sim Communications
While most simmers use MSN Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) or ICQ, Internet Relay Chat (IRC) has proven to be the most effective means of facilitating communication between the sim members. Because of this, the sim maintains a channel which is supervised and almost always will have someone in there to keep order and to talk to new members. If you do not yet have IRC, you can download it from here.

A Note on Sim Protocol
While often talk between simmers will be relaxed and nonchalant, there will be times when in-character (IC) meetings will be held. In these cases, the following protocol should be followed. Note that factions leaders can change protocol as they see fit within their own faction and that this only serves as a general guideline.

Player to Faction Leader
The utmost respect should be payed to the faction leader from all persons within that faction. If the leader is military, salutes should be offered immediately. If the leader is of a political arm, then all character should bow in deference to the Faction Leader's status. The player should maintain the salute or bow until released from it or until two minutes have passed. When speaking to the Faction Leader, the Leader's title should be used or, if applicable, "Sir" can be substituted.

Player to another Player of Higher Rank
A salute should be offered if a person of higher rank enters the room, or if you enter a room with a person of higher rank. If there are several players who fit this description, the salute should be given to the person of highest rank. If the person is political, a bow should be offered while adhearing to the afore-mentioned guidelines. Again, the salute or bow should be maintained until the player is released or two minutes have elapsed. As before, titles or 'Sir" should be used in converation.

Player to another Player of Equal or Lesser Rank
In the event that two players with the same rank meet, they are not obligated to offer salutes, bows or anything more formal than a nod. In the event that a person of lesser rank offers a salute or bow, it can be acknoledged with a nod, hand movement or simple order. Often, the officer will be addressed by their rank.

Player to another Player of a Different Faction
Respect should be maintained at all times and arguments kept from the main room. Arguments and personal disputes should be kept to private messenges or other rooms. The only time when a general argument would be tolerated would be during a discussion of rules or relevant sim bussiness.
