Alison Marshall is one of those New Zealand Baha'is who terrify Peter Khan. The UHJ disenrolled her. See how truly fearsome she is. Rumor has it the UHJ is about to declare her a witch or something.
Karen Bacquet is an unenrolled Baha'i and is still a believer in Baha'u'llah. She has written extensively about the faith recently. We recommend in particular her essay "What it means to be an unenrolled Baha'i" for those thinking of joining the Haifan tradition formally. You also might want to read "Exit by Troops."
Juan Cole is a Middle East historian who has published extensively on the Baha'i faith. He too holds belief in Baha'u'llah although he resigned from the Haifan tradition several years ago. This page has some interesting articles, and here is his highly controversial piece with his take on some of the internal workings of the Faith. Anyone with any religious sensibilities at all will find moving the final parts of his restatement of faith in Baha'u'allah three years after formally resigning from the Haifan tradition. We'll call it the "Disavowel of the Disavowel" borrowing the word from his own statement.
Brave New World seems to have passed into the Abha Kingdom, but it has a successor. Whether or not that successor was designated during BNW's own lifetime is uncertain at this point and we have no evidence that BNW left a will. We will have a conclave and may announce something about this, but until we send out a long-winded verbose and supercilious communique about the official status of the successor publication, we declare Baha'i Farm to be the provisional successor to BNW. Fred Glaysher has a catch all site archiving lots of what has been going on the past couple of decades. |

Anti-Cult Related http://jhuger.com/ Great Site - Very Funny. Baha'i Angst gives this one 5 talismans. It's anti religion as well as cult, but even true believers should enjoy it. http://www.csj.org/ Looks professional, but does seem to want to sell you things. It's the site of the American Family Foundation. Still, there is some good free info here, starting with their "Cults 101" page. |

Cool Links: As soon as you sign the card you will find yourself pressured to attend millions of Baha'i committee meetings all aimed at proslytizing others. You'll be told not to engage in politics and will may find it hard to do good works that benefit others. Here's some links to activist sites, just to show you what you'll end up missing out on. The first four sites below deal a lot with war and peace issues and with problems in the Middle East. Baha'is often have a fairy tale apocalyptic view of goings on there and believe that the State of Israel was created to protect the Universal House of Justice. Antiwar.com is a great site. 5 Talismans. http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/ http://www.zmag.org/meastwatch/meastwat.htm The site below will give you a few facts on the Arab-Israeli problem that your Baha'i friends probably won't know. They then to worship Israel almost as much as they do the Universal House of Justice. http://www.zmag.org/shalom-meqa.htm CNN has a politics site. Oh, sorry, no more politics for you. Lobster has a British take on things on the left. Maybe it'll make you appreciate Baha'i Farm better. Counter Punch is a great on-line magazine with the gadfly of gadflies when it comes to journalism, Alexander Cockburn. Too bad you'll be a too many teaching committee meetings to have time to read it. The IWW is a worth while site, especially for those interested in economic problems. Trufax has many intereseting things to say about many topics. Try the one on education. David Icke is, well, he's different. Our question for you is: Is he any nuttier than the guys in Haifa with their paranoia and megalomania. Engage in independent ivestigation of whatever and decide for yourself. Right wing stuff is fun too. The Rumor Mill is a good place to start. These guys have a conspiratorial mindset, so HB's (Haifan Baha'is) should feel comfortable there. Brasscheck has some great stuff. Sightings is a UFO/Conspiracy site which also posts news of weird things. Since they believe in UFO's, Baha'is are a natural for this one. However, this site sometimes criticizes the holy state. More will be coming |
