I was raised in Newport Beach, California. The culture there at the time was one of sunny, relaxed and highly creative people. I was constantly inspired by the spiritual thrill of surfing, and still am.
I think perhaps there is a metaphysical link between the rhythms, power and ease of the ocean, and the fluid connectedness of music. Maybe that is why I cannot fully function without those two things in my life ? the only teachers that I truly need and completely trust.
My mother was a very talented designer and the people in our house were often her artist friends. Their stories and philosophies inspired me to commit to my own mythology and stay very close to what is natural to me; art, the sea and music.
