While billed as a Fortunes release, "It's the Real Thing" is split between Fortunes tunes and incidental music performed by Gary Sherman and His Orchestra.  Part of Coke's ongoing 1960s marketing program that got various pop groups to record their 'It's the Real Thing' jingle (The 5th Diminsion, The Seekers, etc.) the album is more of a historical curiosity than a musical statement.  Reflecting the power of a big marketing budget, the album marks a reunion of the original 'You've Got Your Troubles' lineup (Roger Cook, Glen Dale and Roger Greenaway) and tracks such as 'Books and Films', 'Red Clay County Line' and 'Same Old Feeling' aren't bad in a top-40 pop fashion.
