THE VILLAGE RIVER
by Omini Riman

The African elementary school children
in a village blessed with long walking track,
took their books to go home as the big bell booms.
Its end of school, all children rejoiced.

Its a Friday afternoon, and every one must visit
the river bank to take a long bath and play in the river sand.
Up in the sky, the clouds started mourning, the sky
turns gray, the bright sun that preserve our break time
is suddenly gone. And the waves are inviting
the trees begin to sing and make strange noise.

'We must go now' they softly muttered to one another
'This is a good time. We would not have to go to
school tomorrow'. They left the school gate and
others followed singing "This is a good Friday, all
children can go have fun at the village river".

As the rain softly drizzled
on the children they defy it and
matched to the river's beach.
Its fun playing in the river
as the rain drizzle.

Its still drizzling hard.
The gutters are filled,
their bowels emptied to the beach.
The skies opened it mouth
and his tears drowned the sea.

But this does not
deter any one from playing
in the river sand.
