I think the fact that I was raised by an LDS father and a Methodist mother was the beginning of the confusion about the truth for me. I accepted Christ as my Savior at the age of 16, then married a man who did not share my beliefs when I was just 19. We struggled desperately to get along, but it never worked out for us. After four and a half years of marriage, three children and much abuse... I knew I had to get out of there.
There was one thing that I praised God for in all of it.. His promise that He would never leave us or forsake us. He did not leave me. I turned to a Pastor and started to get my life right. I renewed my confession that Jesus Christ is Lord and died on the cross for my sins. I started reading my Bible and praying to Jehovah God! I found strength like I had not ever felt before rise up inside me. I was renewed.
Unfortunately, the old ways were not through with me. I struggled for years to find who I was in the Lord Jesus Christ. It wasn't until 1985, when my family moved to Roswell, N.M., that I finally REALLY started growing in the Lord. There is such a revival going on in churches there and I became the Praise and Worship Leader for one of them. My paster would hold weekly revival and Holy Spirit Renewal meetings. I fell in love with the Holy Spirit ! Now, I can't imagine His gifts not working in my life... and through my life. He is my source of strength and power to overcome.
My family and I moved back to Utah recently and I know the Lord has a work here for me. I love the people here and will walk through whatever doors God opens for me. I praise my Jesus, that He loved me enough to keep holding onto me, even when I was drowning myself. He is a wonderful Lord and a great Friend. I also praise the Lord for my mother, who never gave up praying for me and my siblings to be saved. Hallalujah
