Koala ZS-VZL

Hi! My name is Peter Bosch and I am a Koala fan! I have given instruction in her and have found it to be structurally a very sound aircraft. My brother Deon and I bought a Koala with a 503 Rotax engine in it. We got our "conversions" onto her and thought that it was great! We operate at 6000' ASL, and in temperatures of up to 30° C. This puts us at very hot'n high density altitude and we have had some hairy experiences. Then we flew in a 532 Rotax Koala!	Hansel and I nearly hit each other in this shot.
We just had to have one. Then, unfortunately, a friend crashed his Koala in the Cape, engine out over a vineyard, and we could buy the whole of the wreck, engine and instruments from him, intending to rebuild the aircraft. THEN, my brother decided that our partnership of 50% should be more clearly defined! After a perfect landing in a somewhat marshland, he veered of the runway, and hit the only rock in the grass. deviding our plane into the front and the rear 50%. *Satisfied?*	Isn't that prettiest you ever saw?( gloves / maps ?)
Now we could build another NEW one with the engine in hand. Sold the 503 and bought a prop! and the new VZL was born. This time she was going to be pretty as well! What was wrong with a standard Koala? The thing sounded like a guitar being pulled on a string over cobbles! Put an inflateable tailwheel on! YES! It was too small for us big oaks! Put curved doors on! YES! Hated the way the radiator protruded! Make a cowling! YES! What about spats? YES! *and nice airfoil struts? YES!	See the spats, cowling, still no spinner?
Oh by the way, wouldn't it look nice with a real panel?.. a step for smaller children?.. cabin lights and landing lights for night hangar flying?.. fighter type control yokes with PTT?..Skylights for close circuit banking visibility? Yesss yesss yess! So.. we started on all of this. I made a mold for the dash, and having a vacuumforming machine lying around, went to it! Made a mold for the cowling and about 5 of them are now flying with the same cowls. But this could cause the engine to overheat. So we took two standard car heater exchangers...it worked!
