The engine is a 4 cylinder, liquid cooled, gas engine. It has an F- head design. This means it has a valve in head and a valve in block type construction. Four intake valves in the cylinder head and the exhaust valves are in the block. The radiator, engine, transmission and transfer case can all be removed at once. This makes for faster repairs. This engine was running when I bought it, however, I am having it rebuilt since I have the time. UPDATE: June 2001...As of now the engine has been rebuilt, painted and is currently running great. I have driven about 500 miles and everything is perfect. Things to Know # The engine serial number is found on the cylinder block behind the water pump. # MD is the nomenclature for the M-38A1. # RMD is the nomenclature for a replacement engine on the M-38A1. # Spark Plug gap is set to .030 of an inch Questions or comments E-MAIL me at trsomers@attbi.com
