Christmas Party!!! By
Jim Brown
Guaranteed to get you into the Christmas
spirit, Florence and I are once again inviting
the Azteca Toastmasters club to our home for a
Christmas Party. The date is December 12, and the
party will start at 6PM. We would like to make it
a potluck, we will provide the Wassail punch (to
make sure Norm and Ruby are there), and everybody
else can provide the food. Sergeant-at-Arms Linda
Dotson has graciously volunteered to help, along
with Bea Briggs, and thank you very much for
that.
If you haven't seen our Pine Valley home at
Christmas, you must. Decorated with about 9 or 10
trees (most small, some big), each tree is
decorated in a different theme. There is the main
tree that the gifts go under, a tree with nothing
but antique ornaments, a small tree decorated
with antique light bulbs, a WWII tree, a kitchen
tree decorated with foodstuffs (pseudo), angel
tree, bear tree, etc, etc. Florence also
decorates with fresh pine boughs, ribbons, etc.
It is truly nice, and while I occasionally grump
about it a bit, I really love it when it's
finished. Then, after the New Year is rung in,
it's time to take it all down and store it for
next year. A big job, to be sure, but worth it.
Last year, we didn't decorate nearly as much
(only one tree), due to my daughter wanting her
wedding here at the house, and we were too busy
with preparations for that big event, so this
year, we're doing it up right, and truly hope you
can attend. Maybe, if you ply me with enough hot
buttered rums, I'll even make you suffer through
a few pieces of Christmas music on the piano, but
no promises, I hate being laughed at. When the
date gets closer, I'll provide you with maps to
our place. Hope you can make it!
