Project Toyota |
Well I finally got around to cutting the fenders today. I cut them straight accross toward the bumper to increase the approach angle on the corners. The additional 4 inches I gained from this project will come in handy for crawling up rocks, ledges etc. This project is one of thoes cool freebies that are fun, easy, and best of all free! It only took a few hours and I used pretty basic tools. If you don't have one yet go get a Dremel. I have had mine for years and have used it for almost every project I have ever done. |

Before the fenders were cut. Notice how they hang from under the bumper |
After the cutting I gained little over 4 inches of additional clearance |
First I drew a line accross where the cut was to be madene |

If you do this at home, your scrap will look something like this |
And thats it! When you're done you will want to roll the sharp edges back behind to protect your tire, your girlfriends skirt, and that sort of thing. Don't forget to shoot some primer on the bare metal to keep the evil rust away. This is not brain surgery but use common sense when doing this or any other project. Always be aware of your surroundings, wear eye protection, don't swallow cut off wheels etc etc.... Good luck! |
