UNSURPASSING PEACE

by Nanci Leeper© 1999 Word in Context

There has been so many questions on submission on dying to one's self and on how much we trust God or he trusts us. This brought back the book of Habakuk.

In the first few chapters we find him just pouring out to God and asking why things were the way they were. Why there was so much destruction etc. But in the later chapter we see how even though his circumstances and the situation had not changed he was so much at peace and calm and just praising God for all things.

Habakuk realized God was in control, despite everything that was going on around him, he was able to go and rest in the fact that God was going to take care of everything!!!

The famous commentator Kenneth S. Wuest says this: Our peace has nothing to do with out circumstances and everything to do with knowing we have a right relationship with God.

William Barclay quotes: Our peace has nothing to do with daily challenges or crises and everything to do with knowing our times are in God's hands.

Howard Vos quotes: Our peace has nothing to do with the conditions of our lives and everything to do with knowing that God is all-sufficient.

Charles Pfeiffer quotes: Peace is an inward repose and serenity of soul that indicates a heart at rest- regardless of our circumstances as we place complete confidence in God minute by minute.

True peace comes with knowing that our Heavenly Father is continually with us. Although we don't always feel that way he is, as my 13 year old daughter told me teacher don't talk during test Mom but their always in the room with us. Hmmm that's some food for thought even though He isn't "talking" He is still in the room with us.
