Tips to Help Those Butterflies |
Ok, everyone knows that before a performance or a competition you are nervous. You can't think, your heart is pounding, the sweat is pouring down and you are sitting there hoping you won't fall on your face. Well, here are a few suggestions to help those butterflies go away!! |
Write all your ballet friends a note |
Write them a little Good Luck note. And then once they read it wish them Good Luck in person. They will appreciate the thought!! And it will also make you feel better inside!! |
Stretch out and relax |
Sit back stage and do some stretches to your favorite CD, it can be one that really gets you pumped up and makes you feel like a winner or it can be one that reminds you of someone you love or you can get a CD that just makes you feel good inside. Whatever you may listen to just sit there and relax and stretch. |
Think of something that makes you happy |
If you are going somewhere after the show think about that, or if you are going somewhere the upcoming weekend think about how much fun you will have!! It works. Think of something that makes you happy and then focus on that before you go on stage!! |
Do something that helps your stress |
If you have time before you go on stage do something that helps your stress. It may be reading or sewing or listening to music!! If it is reading bring a book or magazine you really like or one that you are reading. If it is sewing bring something that you are sewing or if it is listening to music bring a walkman or a portable CD player and put in your favorite CD!! |
Get ready the night before |
If you get ready the night before the performance or the competition you can relieve the stress of making sure you have everything and of running around at the last minute trying to get everything ready and together. |
Worried about a step in your dance? |
If you are, practice it before you go on stage. You can practice it backstage in a good spacious area or you can practice it on the stage. Where ever you practice it will help you. I always do that before a show if I have a step I feel I need to practice before I go on stage. It will help you in the show because you will be less worried about it, but don't overdue it either you don't want to wear yourself out before the show. So, just practice it a few times and then give it a rest and if you want to practice it one last time go ahead just don't overdue it. |
