Eeyore was bought as a Christmas present for Christopher Robin in 1921. He is an 18in long, 27in tall grey donkey that is stuffed with sawdust.

Eeyore was delveloped by A.A.Milne in the Winnie the Pooh Series. Eeyore appeared in "Winnie the Pooh" and "The House at Pooh Corner". Poor ol' gloomy Eeyore is always depressed. He lives in the rather boggy and sad Southeast corner of the 100 Aker Wood, called Eeyore's Gloomy Place. The character in the book was drawn by Mr. Ernest Sheppard, which is known as the "classic eeyore". The "modern eeyore" we see today is created by Disney.

The Pooh books being favorites of Walt Disney's daughters inspired him to do a film in 1966. He added the big pink bow to Eeyore's tail, but kept some of his original features...the facts that  Eeyore is always losing his tail and Eeyore's house is always falling down. The real Eeyore and friends (with the exception of Roo) went on display on September 11, 1987. They are at the Central Children's Room at the Donnell Library Center, part of the New York Public Library.
