This site is in the process of being updated, If you wish to find out more your best off contacting us It is 1195 AD in the County of Tripoli in the lands of the Crusades. Whilst Europe has been torn by the desires of King Phillip of France, King Richard of England and his brother Prince John, a tenuous peace has settled over the Holy Lands. The Banner of Tripoli is Townsville’s only Medieval Re-enactment Group. We endeavour to faithfully re-enact the time period 1150 to 1250 AD in the Holy Lands encompassing all levels of society from Peasant to Noble. If you have an interest in things Medieval, whether it be feasting, fighting, archery, cooking, craft, gaming, medicine or any other path, this is the group for you! Take the step from just reading about Medieval life or watching the Hollywood interpretation. Wear the clothes, make the shoes or swing the weapons your ancestors used. Learn that not all was chivalric and honourable. "In the long sequence of interaction and fusion between Orient and
Occident, out of which our civilization has grown, the Crusades were a
tragic and destructive episode. High ideals were besmirched by cruelty and
greed, enterprise and endurance by a blind and narrow self righteousness,
and the Holy War itself was nothing more than a long act of intolerance in
the name of God." | |
