CD: "Chanson - The Space in Between" |
Inventive and unusual but scrupulously sympathetic settings are provided by a team of top musicians: jazz award winner and Landesman collaborator Simon Wallace (piano, arranger), pianist/accordionist/arranger Kim Burton (Working Week, 3 Mustaphas 3), long-time Jungr pianist Russell Churney, percussionist Kevin Hathaway (London Philharmonic Orchestra), film composer and arranger James Tomalin (samples and arrangements), jazz double bassist Julie Walkington and top London violinist Rolf Wilson. Production is by Calum Malcolm (Clannad, Claire Martin) and Barb Jungr. The album also provides the basis for Jungr's live show, Chanson: The Space In Between, directed by Debbie Isitt and in collaboration with artist Garry laybourn whose paintings inspired by the themes of the songs will form the set, plus accompaniment from Russell Churney, Julie Walkington and Kim Burton. This show is already lined up for this year's Edinburgh Festival and is set to tour nationally on the release of the album through 2000/2001. "SHE IS A SMOKY, SEXY SINGER WHO CAN TAKE YOU FROM A WHISPER TO A WAIL IN ONE SLICK STEP AND BREATHE NEW LIFE AND SOUL INTO SONGS THAT YOU'VE HEARD A HUNDRED TIMES."
