In the early 1990's, Jungr developed the themed shows that have become her speciality. Previous productions include SEX, RELIGION AND POLITICS and BARE. Jungr toured nationally and internationally with Julian Clary, appearing with him in the West End (The Aldwych) and on Channel 4 television in STICKY MOMENTS and TERRY AND JULIAN, and won a Perrier Award for BROWN BLUES with Arnold Brown and Michael Parker (the first woman to win the award). A major vocal talent and Britain's foremost cabaretist and chansonnier "Divine Diva" Barb Jungr enthrals audiences with her unique performance cabarets which synthesise chansons, jazz, blues, storytelling, musical theatre and improvisation. From her early days on London's alternative cabaret circuit she has become "The Queen of Musical Cabaret" (Time Out). Her solo shows accompanied by virtuoso pianists Simon Wallace, Russell Churney and Sarah Travis have thrilled audiences with an eclectic repertoire ranging from Dylan to Gershwyn, Costello to Cole Porter. Her arrangements and interpretations reveal astonishing musicality, and her voice dazzles. Along with blues guitarist Michael Parker, Jungr has been regularly seen and heard on British television and radio and toured with Alexei Sayle collaborating with Arnold Brown (with whom she won a Perrier Award in 1987 at the Gilded Balloon) and Julian Clary (national and international tours, the West End and Television series). Her CD's "Bare" (Irregular records) and "Chanson - The Space in Between" (Linn Records) are available on www.barbjungr.com and Amazon.co.uk. Musicians include Kim Burton, Simon Wallace, Russell Churney and Julie Walkington. |
