They say there is an alligator living in the lake behind my house.  I haven't seen him, but if he's this cute, I'll dance with him!  OK, OK, so this is a crocodile...

if it walks like a duck, it is a duck...

I have fish inside the house.  Outside, I enjoy all the birds and butterflies in the azaleas and honeysuckle; ducks, geese, minnows, swans and turtles in the lake; and dozens of squirrels in the pine and oak trees.  A number of tree frogs, toads, baby lizards and skinks visit me while gardening now and then.

All the creatures seem to make it up to the edges of my house, including the minnows which get transported in pails by my littlest fishermen.  I even watched a turtle make the entire journey.  I haven't yet looked to see if some eggs were laid...it was wet enough in those bushes at the time.  I hear there are snakes around here, but I've only seen one, about six inches.  Those turtle eggs could be quite a delicacy for a snake.

Two deer were crossing the road at the edge of my yard one evening.  They are always a treat for me.  My daughter says there are bobcat here, too.  Haven't seen one, haven't heard one.

Can you see a dog face? Or two dogs back-to-back? The dogface butterfly is the state butterfly of South Carolina.
If he thinks I'm going to drag him all the way to the house, he's got another think coming!
