| The Dachshund was first recorded through the years of 1550-1850 by hunters who had recognized this breeds incredible hunting abilities. The Dachshund was first introduced to the United States between 1879 and 1885 when 11 Dachshunds were in the 11 th copy of American Kennel Club Stud book. The Dachshund arrived in England a little earlier in the 1850's after Queen Victoria's German husband brought it into their household. During World War 1 and World War II. The Dachshund was criticized by many, and was very unpopular to have, because of the events that were going on in Germany. This was a depressing time for the Dachshund, but at the end of World War II, the Dachshund gained popularity again. The Dachshund will always stay true to it's origin, remains one of the most beloved breeds. The Dachshund is among the Top Ten most popular dogs as listed by the A.K.C. |
