During my years as an ordained Minister of Religion in Coffs Harbour part of my duty was to conduct Funerals. As a Funeral Celebrant I arranged many diverse Funerals which included various forms of religious and non-religious Services.
One has to be very versatile and receptive to the wishes of the families involved. My main objective though is to uphold the wishes of the deceased, taking into account the feelings of all relatives and see how they feel the service should be conducted. I endeavour to get a feeling about the deceased spiritual energies while I meet with their families in their homes, as this helps me to write an appropriate eulogy.
I encourage the families input and ask them to share with me their memories, special moments and stories about the deceased, and I schedule ample time into the service to allow relatives and friends to say a few words if they wish.
I also respect the families choice of music and any other items such as poetry which they might include in the Service. For example on one occasion I conducted a Service with the families choice of music by John Lennon and even Slim Dusty.
Finally, the length of the Service is frequently limited to 30 minutes at the familie's request, but if required, the Service can be for any length of time mutually agreed beforehand with the family and the Funreal Directors.
I would like very much to offer my Services to you and I am looking forward to hearing from you.
regards, Barb
