Barranca del Cobre - Creel, Chihuahua (MX) 16-17 Nov 2004
GETTING THERE... The Copper Canyon Railway travels between Los Mochis (on sea level) to Chihuahua via Creel (2300 m altitude) through long tunnels and over vertigo bridges, offering amazing views... but you have to be an extremely patient individual to appreciate all this when the train average speed is 35 km per hour, and when you are stucked in a carriage for almost 13 hours... it doesn't happen all the time, but that day they were a bit concerned about the frost on the tracks, and decided to take it easy... what a luck!!! Despite my usual restlessness, I managed a bit of self control, with the help of burritos, some dozing off, and (most important) intelligent conversation...
Final destination: Casa Margarita!! They give you a bed, they feed you and take you around the canyon... finally somebody who takes care of the worn out traveler!! weluvu
Community dinners were nice occasions to exchange travel tales and form some groups for the next day excursions... but there is always a price to pay, i.e. the poor mariachi on the right showing up every night singing "Oh mi Chihuahua"...
Yesss, probably the home for show business renegades...???

That was the time you ravened your enchilada and got ready for running outside in the cold, to a warmer, safer harbour, a small temple with a sacred fire, perpetually maintained alive by the most revered goddess in town: TEQUILA!!
With my back roasting on the fireplace, I listen to Alan's story-telling... Evan looks like he is really into the topic, Amy... what is she doing? Struggling with a lime I supposed...
Now... on the right we have happy, satisfied faces!!
Ready for
DAY 2 : TOURING AROUND CREEL But before then... mas Jimador, por favor!!!
