monday 10 february | ||||||||
a super quick recap of a much needed weekend getaway after a tiring day on friday, i left work a couple hours early to run some errands and have some alone time. it was mind relieving. in the evening, jung and i met aaron and mayu and ivy and oli's house. we packed up aaron's car and drove to nut tree where we met up with wil and tony and had a quick dinner at taco bell. we arrived at the tahoe cabin, an amazing cabin, before midnight and chose rooms and unpacked. reina and herb met us a little later, and everyone crashed around 3 in the morn to wake up at 6:30 (!) to go snowboarding. everyone but parkin and i that is. we had opted to stay in the homey cabin for the day. parkin woke up around 9am, got up and did his morning rituals. i stayed in bed a little longer before getting up for some breakfast that the boarders left us. ;) we watched cartoons and read some magazines through the morning. around noon, we got dressed and took a walk around the neighborhood. the weather was beautiful and sunny, the air crisp and clean. it was a nice walk. we went down to the lake and took some pictures. it was gorgeous by the water and we watched a blue line wave crash ever so lightly against the calming water. it is times like those that you revel in mother nature's beauty and sounds. we then walked to a pizzeria we passed during out walk and had a bite to eat before our trek back to the cabin. in the cabin's master bedroom, there was a hot tub/jacuzzi so we sat in for awhile before we became too pruney. the boarders came back around 4:30. they looked really tired, but the day sounded really fun! snacks were being eaten and dinner was being prepared while everyone showered and rested. after we had our fill of yummy beff stew that aaron brought, we all sat and played games before reina and herb had to leave. but before they did, ivy, mayu, and reina were presented with a yummy february birthday cake. soon after, tony made some yummy bananas, strawberries, and nutella crepes. no one stayed up too long after that tho, and everyone was in bed by midnight. sunday morning we got up and had eggs and corned beef hash for breakfast courtesy of mayu and ivy. everyone packed up, cleaned the cabin and went outside to play in the snow for a bit before heading over to northstar for another day of boarding. there was a little sledding path along the house, and everyone partook in a ride down the scary ice slide. parkin and i decided to board yesterday since it was only a half day event. since ivy, mayu, aaron, oli, wil, and tony all had their own gear, jung and i had to rent from northstar. we were very surprised to see how good their equipment was tho. it had been about 2 years since the last time we went snowboarding, so we were nervous and apprehensive... or at least i was. our last 2 times boarding were nightmares tho, and that is why we weren't sure if we enjoyed the sport anymore. there's only so much fun to be had when you're falling on your ass all the time in the freezing cold. but the weather was real nice yesterday and we had a great time. and i'm happy that we decided to board, even if it was only for a couple of hours. i dont' think i could have handled any more than we did. my muscles, which haven't been used for a long ass time were fatigued and shakey by the end of the last run. mayu, parkin, and i met up with the rest of the guys down at the little village after we returned out gear. since we had so much food left over from the cabin, we had a little tailgater in the parking lot after we all changed. that was a first for me, and it was a lot of fun. parkin and i packed into tony's car until we reached nut tree where we went out seperate ways. tony and wil back to san jose, and the rest of us to sf. we got back to ivy and oli's house around 10pm, had dinner, then jung and i head home. we were so tired, achey, and looking forward to sleeping. i went to the bathroom to wash up and to my dismay, what i found in the bathroom was horrifying. as i took off my lipstick, in my peripheral vision, i could see a dark line along the wall near the mirror. i slowly turned and saw that the dark line was a trail of ants!!! it was disgusting. there were so many of them, enough to give me nightmares for the next few nights. we were only gone for 2 nights, and so many came coming up the drains! parkin sprayed the whole bathroom with raid. i washed them down the tub and parkin wiped the lot of them off the walls. ugh, it was so gross. i'm really nervous because this friday, parkin and i will be driving to la for the upcoming 3 days weekend. will we have a similar homecoming? finally around midnight, the lights were turned off and i was off in dreamland only to be awakened too early by a buzzing alarm clock. sore and so so sleepy, i'm here at work waiting for the day to end... but it's only 9:30 in the morning. dammit. more pictures to come, but here's one courtesy of ivy's digi cam. thanks to the tahoe planning crew for a super fun getaway. ~ |
